POPULISME DAN PEMILIHAN PRESIDEN INDONESIA: SEBUAH REFLEKSI TINGKAT PERSEPSI MASYARAKAT DAN PARTISIPASI PEMILU 2019 DI KOTA BATAM

Abstract

Populism is the nature of thought that develops in society, lives and develops when there is injustice and inequality and the character of populism is always giving birth to antithesis. Those are derived from the thought of leaders who are able to bring populism in the midst of society. Then how it will impact the
public trust in the Batam region, Kepulauan Riau Province? This research located in 12 selected districts in Batam City, Kepulauan Riau Province. The method used in this study is a survey with descriptive methods. In the result President Joko Widodo, partially, lost the vote of Prabowo in the Sumatra region. However, the aspect of populism itself shows the level of voter participation in the 2019 elections in Batam City which is quite high, reaching 72.24 percent. This figure is significantly up compared to previous elections
where there were 470,180 voters exercising their right to vote. The results also show that the confidence of the people of Batam remains high. It is especially in the aspect of community welfare where the incumbent gets the acquisition of a partner 01 is 286,833 votes
